The little joys

Hi folks,
New Year is about to be born. May it bring you all 365 days of good health and happiness! Happy New Year!

These are some photos from the party that was organised in my firm on Friday (28/12) for the children of our employees. Children had a good time and also we adults completely enjoyed looking at them laughing, playing and dancing. Each of a child was happy and pleased with their gifts they got on that occasion.

Let’s get party started!

Everything is in preparation.

God knows how long it would take to me to scan all old photos that I keep in old albums and I don't intend to do that at all. Yet there are few of them that I had made scanned. This is one of them that I chose to post. This is me and my brother 41 years ago at one of the New Year’s parties which was organised every New Year by firms where my parents worked.

Bajram Holiday

This month is almost full of wonderful holidays: Islamic Bajram, Jewish Hanukah, Catholic Christmas, New Year except of Orthodox Christmas which is on 7th January.
My country is multinational and multicultural country and Sarajevo is the centre of various religions and cultures. My city is decorated because of all these holidays. Since I grew up in the circles like this, all these holidays are familiar and dear to me.
This photo is according to my holiday Bajram which started today. It last four days.
My friends, no matter what religion they are, never forget my holidays and I never forget theirs. Thanks God, nothing could spoil our friendship. I didn’t work today and I spent my time with my family, with many relatives and friends. It was nice but also sad because of those dear persons who I miss very much especially on these days.

Ferhadija Street

Let’s take a look one of my city’s street. As you can see it is decorated, simple but nice.
I took this photo yesterday about 4:15 p.m. in the centre of the city. I was shopping on my way home from work.
This is now the right side of the same street which photo I took only an hour later. After that I ran away home to get warm. The night was getting colder and colder.

Dark winter's morning

I am sorry I am late with my post and with my comments for which I apologize to you my dear blog friends. I will visit your blogs as soon as I can. I was too busy over the weekend and didn’t have spare time for photographing. Since I didn’t have any idea what to post for today I decided to post this photo. Although this photo didn’t turn out well like I hoped to it, I still think it is interesting a little bit. It was early Saturday morning and still rather dark when I captured it in one of the cities parks on my way to work. These pigeons appeared from nowhere looking for food. They probably thought I had something for them. I am sorry that I didn’t have anything for them at that moment.

Snow again

It started to snow last night and also it got much colder. Everything was white and clear outside this morning. Whether you believe or not it was beautiful. Look at those new snowflakes! I like snow, fresh and white... :-)

Sebilj by night

Sebilj comes from Arabic word “Sebil” which means “road” but as a term expression it points to a charitable and very old institution; fountain of particular shape on the squares from which people drank water for free. Fountain Sebilj is the only object of that kind in Sarajevo built in the centre of Bascarsija square in the 1891.

I took this photo last night in the old town part of Sarajevo while walking with my husband. I hoped the city was already decorated but it wasn’t yet. It was nice night for walking. It hasn’t been cold for several days over here. It was much colder in November which normally uses to be in December. It is unusual for us to have New Year without snow so I hope there will be some white snow blanket by that time.

In memory of my brother

On today’s day 15 years ago my only one brother was killed in the war which began in my country in May 1992 and ended in November 1995 after the Dayton Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina had been signed.
My brother was only 33 years old when he was killed. He was full of life and a great man with a great heart and always ready to gave his hand to anybody who needed his help. He never asked who was who; everybody was equal and the same to him.
His daughter lost her father in the age 6 years old.
This photo is not the best one but it is the last photo of him that was taken in November of 1992. (only two months before his death). He had beautiful blue eyes and I am sorry that it cannot be seen clear on this photo which I photographed (not scanned) and combined with an old greeting card that I found in the house in order to make this memory of my wonderful brother which I wanted to share with you out there, my blog friends.

As proud as a peacock

This is a peacock's feather which once my younger son brought to me from our zoo. I liked it so I kept it among the other little things which I am sorry to throw them out.
Have a nice weekend!

Mandarin orange

As it is already known, mandarin, as well as orange, is an excellent source of vitamin C, a good source of vitamin B and fibers. I enjoy its beautiful smell and tasty juice.

Little Sara

I would like to introduce Sara, 5 years old little girl so sweet and so cute. She is a stepsister of my deceased brother’s daughter Lejla.
Sara so much likes to pose so this is only one of so many photos of her that I have taken. She put my son’s winter jacket on in other to make us laugh. She did manage that.

This is her drawing that she drew while she was at my home on Saturday late afternoon with Lejla. What made me smile the most was her explanation that a person on the drawing was her mother when she was a little girl. :-)) I kept her drawing for myself and framed it immediately.

Abandoned things

I didn't have to post anything new for yesterday. I could only go into my archive to see if there was anything interesting to show you, but I didn't feel like rummaging through it. Days are too short; it grows dark almost at 5 pm. Where to find some inspiration when most of it I find outside.

Last night I took this old encyclopedia to find something interesting to read when I came across to this pressed flowers which I left there, only God knows when because I completely forgot to it. Just when I thought there wouldn’t be anything for me to post today I found this as an interesting subject for photographing and to tell you that this edition of encyclopedia came out in 1959. It was written in Cyrillic.

Close up, of course! :-))

Well, I also found it interesting to play a little bit with the shadow of my hand.
Have a nice weekend to all!
