Where the thoughts goes while the water flows!

During the 15th and 16th century about 156 public drinking fountains were constructed in Sarajevo. They use to be built in mahals (quarters) as memorials. This is one of them but it isn’t the most beautiful. The water is beautiful, always cool and fresh. Every passer by can refresh themselves during the hot weather like it’s been over here this summer. I took this photo the other day while passing by it.

Dahlia

This Dahlia is from my neighbor’s garden. It took my eyes with its beautiful flowers and colors.

foothill

I took this photo from my terrace yesterday at sunset. This is a view of the rural houses built in the foot of Trebevic Mountain. Please visit this Wikipedia page to find out more on Trebevic.

I would like if the background was nicer. But ok, it might be better some other time.

Rose from my garden

This rose is one of the last one that still looks nice. I took this photo last evening after I'd watered my flowers.

Rose flower

It looks like rose but it isn't. I am sorry that I don't know how to call this little beauty.

Old Town

View of the old part of Sarajevo, from the Bistrik settlement. In the middle of the photo it can be seen City City hall building called “Vijećnica”. Later it was National Library. Vijećnica was set fire by phosphor bombs during the siege of Sarajevo in august 1992. It was burnt about 80% of library and documentation that testify on Bosnian history. This old building still hasn’t been reconstructed.

Today I have chosen to post two details from Sarajevo's Bašćaršija. This is the first one.

Travnik

On Saturday afternoon my husband and I went to Travnik. It is a beautiful city, 90 km away from Sarajevo. On that occasion we visited a wonderful fortress which is the only one saved medieval monument. Fortress becoming today’s old town sector, called “Stari Grad” (Kaštel). It was built at the beginning of XV century and it is not known for exactly who was the builder but supposedly that happened during the time of one of the Bosnian’s king Ostoja or maybe the kind Tvrtko II.
On this photo you can see the beautiful view that I took from the fortress.

Fortress

We are coming up to fortress.

Wheel

This wheel is just in the middle of the restaurant which is placed in the area cold Plave vode (Blue water). We enjoyed listening to the gurgle of the water while having our lunch there. The freshness that was coming from the water also made us good because it was too hot day. It’s still been very hot over here.

The restaurant is around this water.

Cherry tree in blossom

A cherry tree in blossom. I took this photo in April of this year just in a moment when a cat ran away from a tom cat. Shame on him :-)) Look at her eyes!

Cherry tree

You might prefer ripe cherry to unripe apples.

After the blossoms

There will be lots of apples in autumn. Last year there was no any. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

An apple tree by day

This photo I took on 12th April and the previous one was taken on the 9th April.

An apple tree by night

Spring of this year was perfect. I cannot remember when it was like that for the last time. For that reason I have to post some more photos that I took in spring 2007.
This is an old apple tree from my neighbour’s garden that I took in April of this year. Everybody think it is mine because its tree trunk leans directly on the fence of my garden and it spread its branches into my garden as well. “She” knows how much I love “her”, my old apple tree lady, which is how I call this tree.

Beautiful weed…

What a peace!

Wood-path

Nothing could be heard but bird’s song. Nobody could be seen but my husband. :-)

A view at the city

Yesterday my husband and I went for a walk up to the hill called „Barice“. Here are some photos from up there. We’ve had a hot summer this year and it is too hot in the city. This is a view from up the hill but the city itself couldn’t be seen clearly from the heat of the sun.
