No Andrea, I use rose hips to make tea especially in winter days. Rose hip tea is very delicious to me and it is also high in Vitamin C. I also like jam made of it but I don’t have much time to make it on my own so it is easier for me to buy it already made.

Dear Photowannabe and Erin,
I'm afraid I do not have a recipe for making tea of fresh rose hips. I always make it roughly. The more ripe rose hips you have the more delicious and redder tea you get.
I put about 20 dkg fresh rosehips in my tea pot of 1 litre and let it cook in less water with temporary adding of water. It will be cooked better and faster in this way. I also use to add a few dried cloves for aroma as well as a few slices of quince and its leaves. All these ingredients make the tea even more delicious. When the rose hips are full cooked I strain them through the strainer in order to squeeze all the juice from the hips after which the tea is ready for drinking. I like to put a spoon of honey in my tea cup instead of sugar. You can even add some lemon juice in it as well but rosehip tea is enough sour and rich in Vitamin C that it is not necessary.
I always prefer the whole hips or dry pieces of rosehip that I can purchase in the groceries to the tea in bags.
I enjoy the smell of my kitchen while cooking this tea very much and it reminds me of my childhood when my late grandmother used to prepare it for us. As she had a coal stove she used to keep her tea pot on the edge of the stove so that there was always fresh ready rosehip tea for everybody.

After the enjoyment of roses nature favours us with more goodies from the rose bush. The roships look beautiful and as you say make a fantastic tea. I always liked the taste of rosehip jam. I use rosehip oil in the facecream I make.

Thanks so much Meda for the recipe. If I can gather enough rosehips from the neighbors rose bushes I will try it. All the vitamin C shoud be good for the winter season.
