During the 15th and 16th century about 156 public drinking fountains were constructed in Sarajevo. They use to be built in mahals (quarters) as memorials. This is one of them but it isn’t the most beautiful. The water is beautiful, always cool and fresh. Every passer by can refresh themselves during the hot weather like it’s been over here this summer. I took this photo the other day while passing by it.

foothill
I took this photo from my terrace yesterday at sunset. This is a view of the rural houses built in the foot of Trebevic Mountain. Please visit this Wikipedia page to find out more on Trebevic.

Old Town
View of the old part of Sarajevo, from the Bistrik settlement. In the middle of the photo it can be seen City City hall building called “Vijećnica”. Later it was National Library. Vijećnica was set fire by phosphor bombs during the siege of Sarajevo in august 1992. It was burnt about 80% of library and documentation that testify on Bosnian history. This old building still hasn’t been reconstructed.

Travnik
On Saturday afternoon my husband and I went to Travnik. It is a beautiful city, 90 km away from Sarajevo. On that occasion we visited a wonderful fortress which is the only one saved medieval monument. Fortress becoming today’s old town sector, called “Stari Grad” (Kaštel). It was built at the beginning of XV century and it is not known for exactly who was the builder but supposedly that happened during the time of one of the Bosnian’s king Ostoja or maybe the kind Tvrtko II.
On this photo you can see the beautiful view that I took from the fortress.

Wheel
This wheel is just in the middle of the restaurant which is placed in the area cold Plave vode (Blue water). We enjoyed listening to the gurgle of the water while having our lunch there. The freshness that was coming from the water also made us good because it was too hot day. It’s still been very hot over here.

An apple tree by night
Spring of this year was perfect. I cannot remember when it was like that for the last time. For that reason I have to post some more photos that I took in spring 2007.
This is an old apple tree from my neighbour’s garden that I took in April of this year. Everybody think it is mine because its tree trunk leans directly on the fence of my garden and it spread its branches into my garden as well. “She” knows how much I love “her”, my old apple tree lady, which is how I call this tree.
