On today’s day 15 years ago my only one brother was killed in the war which began in my country in May 1992 and ended in November 1995 after the Dayton Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina had been signed.
My brother was only 33 years old when he was killed. He was full of life and a great man with a great heart and always ready to gave his hand to anybody who needed his help. He never asked who was who; everybody was equal and the same to him.
His daughter lost her father in the age 6 years old.
This photo is not the best one but it is the last photo of him that was taken in November of 1992. (only two months before his death). He had beautiful blue eyes and I am sorry that it cannot be seen clear on this photo which I photographed (not scanned) and combined with an old greeting card that I found in the house in order to make this memory of my wonderful brother which I wanted to share with you out there, my blog friends.

one of my great great grand mothers was Bosnian. I am half Serbian, half Romanian. my better half is Austrian. I have friends of many nationalities. I don't understand war. God have your brother in His garden. I hope the world maintains peace from now on.

Thank you Joy. Thanks for your nice and kind words. May God bless you!
For this post I have no words...
What can I say?
I never tried a pain like this...
Nobody would have to try it...

There's something for you on my blog.
Ciao
Medam, I can just imagine what you had to go through, and even now after 15 years. It is hard enough to see people who die during wars, but it is the hardest to experience when someone close to you is gone now. Sorry to hear that, and like I said you only know how it feels, and I can only imagine how it feels. It is very nice tribute to your brother, Anna :)
Thank you Andrea, thank you very much for this lovely words! May God save you from such a pain!
Dear Anna, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your understanding and your friendly words. It really is very hard when you know that someone so much close to your heart gave his life for nothing. I would never wish such experience to anybody.
War is terrible and terribly unjust. I would like to send you and your extended family my condolences. You made a nice tribute for your brother.
War is a terrible thing. I'm glad I was a child and did not realize the chaos and suffer surrounding me, my family and my people during the war that raged in Bosnia and Herzegowina 1992 - 1995. I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm sure your brother was a good man, husband and father. My condolences.

Thank you Wolfgang, you are right; war is terribly unjust in which only innocent people suffer the most. Some things one can never forget. Thank you very much for your condolences. I appreciate it a lot!
Thank you Nedim, my sons also were children when the war began. Younger one was 7 and older one was 9 yrso. They remember the war but never like to talk about it. Thank you very much for your nice words and for your condolences.
I am shedding tears for you Medam. I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose my only brother (I only have one too).
This is a wonderful tribute to him!
God Bless You and Your Family!
Thank you Kerri, thank you from the bottom of my heart for such wonderful words and understanding. God Bless You too, your brother and Your Family!
That is such a touching tribute Meda. War is so difficult and sad. I a truly sorry for your loss.
Thank you Sue (photowannabe), I am glad to see your message on this post. It means me a lot. God bless you!
For this war, ached also our own soul, and still it aches, because from that I still learn exist differences.
Each war is hard and from the two sides, the war of brothers is worse all.
Forgive yes, you forget no..
What wonderful tribute to your brother. He sounds like he was a great guy.
The senseless loss of life in war really breaks my heart.
I lost a father and brother-in-law in the Rhodesia/ Zimbabwe bush war and know something of what you must be feeling.
If only mankind would learn from history.
Thank you, Kostas, thank you very much for your understanding. May God protect you from the experience we went through!
Hi Max, I am glad to see your message. Thank you very much for your friendly and warm words of understanding. Your comment touched my heart. I am sorry to hear about your lost as well. There is no wonder then that you can understand me well. I am afraid mankind will never learn anything from the history.
I am so sorry for your loss. This is a wonderful tribute to your brother.
I am so very sorry that you lost your only brother. A great loss for all the family. It is a lovely tribute you have written about him. Wars are terrible, there is never a justification for them, as much we are made to believe there is one.
This was very touching..and here it is May again! Just want to reach out..say I'm sorry for the loss and that of your niece and your family. You've posted a very fine tribute here- thanks for sharing this piece.
In the name of your Brother, "May peace like a shaft of light shine through out the World".
Peace to you.
